So, if you read my last post, it mentioned how shitty 2016 has been…well for the most part. Glass is half full not empty, right? So, what now? Still 16 more days to go. Lucky for y’all, here are some tips that have helped me…

Drink hot chocolate. Lots of hot chocolate. With lots of marshmallows.

Red wine hot chocolate – haven’t tried it yet, but plan to soon!

Go shopping! There are so many sales to justify just about anything you buy.

Build a gingerbread house! It’s so much fun….ok so it may sound childish but I guarantee if it isn’t a man than the house will definitely put you in a good mood! Try it before you knock it.

Do something for yourself: a spa treatment, a round of golf, a night out with the guys/girls, or just a night at home with a glass of wine and a movie (or a book).

***(Idea stolen from my fellow blogger) Create a game plan for 2017 – it’ll get you geared up for the new year and help you look forward to something instead of wallowing in the misery some call 2016.

Decorate/re-decorate a room whether it be with new pieces or just DIY crafts – come on, be honest, we all have tons saved on Pinterest we are dying to try.

Go see a movie, go to dinner, go to a café, go shopping, go ice skating, go do anything ALONE. Yes, I said alone! I experienced it for the first time this year and can promise you, if you haven’t tried it, it’s truly empowering! Take it from me, I was very skeptical and to honest, nervous but being by yourself without having to make small talk or entertain is surprisingly peaceful. It can be unsettling at first so you can read, listen to music or just people watch (my favorite) and this time of year you get to see some class acts. There are some seriously messed up people out there (post for the future).

Pick something from your to-do/try list: call or write that old friend, start or continue that hobby you’ve been meaning to do, try a new recipe, try a new activity/sport/craft – it’ll not only scratch of something on your list but it’ll make you feel super productive.

It’s only 10 days until Christmas so go enjoy the festive shopping, lights, music, and of course the “mint-infused” everything! My mom and I slowly drove thru Highland Park like potential burglars but it was so amazing to see the light displays. Yes, small things not only entertain but make me smile.
